Segmental Tunnel Construction

Microtunelling and Pipejacking have not eliminated the necessity for segmental tunnelling and Euro Iseki Overseas ( Thailand ) Ltd maintain the capability to install large diameter tunnels of segmental construction. The system involves the erection of precast concrete segmental rings behind a tunnelling shield, excavation may be undertaken by mechanised tunnel machine or by manual methods. Man access is required to erect the rings and as such the minimum size is usually 1200mm.

The preferred use of segmental tunnel construction is in the following circumstances :-

Where distance between shafts is too large to allow pipejacking to be economically viable.

Where large deviations in line or level are required which prohibits the use of pipejacking.

Where size of the required pipe or the work location makes the transport of single section
  pipes impossible or impractical.

Euro Iseki Overseas ( Thailand ) Ltd has the ability to carry out segmental tunnel construction by machine or hand and will advise Clients and Contractors when they consider this to be the most viable and economic construction method.
